What is a “Hebamme”?
In Germany, a “Hebamme” is a certified midwife — a trusted professional who supports you before, during, and after birth.
Why this matters
Your Hebamme helps with prenatal check-ups, birth planning, and postpartum care. She checks on you and your baby, answers questions, and guides you through pregnancy, birth, and recovery.
When to contact a Hebamme
As soon as you confirm your pregnancy — ideally around week 8–12 — it’s wise to register with a Hebamme, because many have limited availability. Getting in early increases your chances of finding someone who speaks English or understands expat-needs.

Tip for international moms
If you don’t speak German fluently, be sure to mention this when you reach out — many Hebammen offer services in English (or may know someone who does).
If you book early and speak English, you already have one advantage. This is exactly why MamiHero exists — to help you navigate those early steps. ❤
